Elaine and I opted to make the trip to Detroit to attend Rick's funeral service. It was in a beautiful, old church near Eastern Market. Outside stood two Detroit police officers from the mounted patrol. Guess this was to show their respect to Rick and his family for his 30+ years of service. I believe he retired as a sergeant. Although not in uniform, it appeared to me that a number in the congregation were officers that knew him well. I hope we are proud of who he was and what he did to protect us. A fine tribute for a fine classmate.
