Karen’s father and mine worked together for several years.  It was darning this time that I met Karen and grew to know her.  She was a true friend and confidant.  I will miss her.  My deepest sympathies are given to her family.

Since knowing her back in 6th grade at St. Andrew's Elementary School, Karen made an extraordinary impression on everyone. A truly unforgettable human being who touched many and are better for it. At the 20th high school reunion, we laughed reminiscing at the time in 8th grade, Karen, Joe Chayka, Mary Zumwalt and myself, were to go on a "double-date" only to encounter a crash course for the entire class from the nuns on the birds-and-the-bees. How Karen will be missed.

At Karen's memorial service on January 3rd, her husband, Bob, told me that our class and reunion plans meant so much to Karen. The last time I saw Karen in October, she asked how the plans were coming.

I will pass along your notes to Bob.

During 1962-63 school year I was the foreign exchange student at Rochester High. I stayed with the Mr. and Mrs. Hansen and Doug Hansen. It was a very wonderful school year for me. I got to know Karen quite well that year since Doug and Karen used to go out and they will have me and my date on a double date, since I was not to drive. I got tho know Karen's family as well.

It has been 50 years since then. I vividly remember her, a kind and gentle friend indeed. The last time I saw her was at the 1968, 5th year class reunion in Rochester where I also met her husband. I treasure my 1963 yearbook and my memories of her.

I just learned of Karens passing.  My condolences to her familly.  The one thing that really stands out for me was whenever I would see her, she would always ask about my folks.  I will miss her great smile.
